"I'm an avid anthro shopper and somehow didn't see this dress until it was on the sale rack. Thank goodness they had my size left! I was blown away by this dress and got it instantly. It is true to size, rich in color, and elegant looking. I'm planning on wearing this for a friend's wedding next weekend and maybe even for valentine's day as well. I prefer to tie the bow in the back, but that is just me."

"I bought this dress for a wedding and I absolutely adore it. The only thing is that all the other reviews are right in that it runs a little small. I normally wear a 10 or 12 and I got the 12 because of what everyone said but it was a little tight in the bust area (and I'm only a B). I'm looking forward to wearing it!"

"I bought this dress to wear to a wedding. A little darker in colour than I expected and the size 2 was a little roomy (I'm 5'3" and 119 pounds) but a pushup bra helped fill out the top and the waist tie sucked in the middle.
But still very pretty and good quality."

"I tried this on a while back in store, the color and fabric are beautiful in person. The fit was off for me though. I normally wear a 12 at anthropologie and sized up to a 14 in this and the hips were still a little snug. I'm not incredibly hippy, either. I think this would work best for smaller figures. Unfortunately this had to go back to the rack instead of home with me."

"I tried this dress on because of everyone else's responses to it--I just wanted to see for myself. I have boxier shoulders and a large chest and the 8 fit me best (I am usually a 6). Because you have the waist tie you can blouse it up a little bit while still accentuating the waist. I just wasn't wowed by this dress' for whatever reason. The color was beautiful but I just felt like I had seen this dress before ( I have a similar shaped dress in gray from Anthro a few years back). Fit wise though I would agree with the previous reviewer that, depending on your body type you might need to order a size up or down, definitely one you need to try on for yourself."

Pros: beautiful color, cuts a taller woman just right!, simple but very elegant, perfect for any wedding or dressy occasion
Cons: the flowers on the top can get a little mushed

"ladies this dress is super cute. it you have bigger or boxier shoulders, its tough to get it on over you head and you may need to go a size up. if you are skinny and thin boned, you may need to go down a size or TWO... i am using this dress as a bridesmaids dress and some of the girls were true to size, one of them had to go down 2 sizes (and i think she would look better in a 0 if they had any available), and my sister, who is normally a 0, looked great in the two."

"Dream come true dress, if you like and look good in purple. the fabric is impecably soft and well beautiful. The rosettes around the neck are to die for..it's gorgeous. I sized down to a 2 instead of my normal 4. I also tried it on over jeans and it was cute as a tunic!"

"I tried this dress on today and was expecting it to be super small in size by the reviews I had already read. I found it to be actually really big in sizing. I'm 5'4", 115 lbs. and both the size 4 and 2 looked like a purple potato sacks on me. The top is so pretty! Unfortunately, they didn't have a size 0 to try on, so I went with the garnet with rosettes dress instead. Not sure if the 0 would have been flattering or not. I'm not usually a purple person, but this dress was really pretty and different in real life. Very feminine."

"When I first saw this on the web, I fell in love with it. Perfect rich color for the winter and classic cut with a stunning neckline. But when it came in the mail, it was at least 2 sizes too small. For someone who is a perfect size 8 and fits into almost every size 8 I've ever tried on, it was frustrating. I'm afraid to exchange it for a larger size, because I fear that either the bust area will be way too big, or the neckline will dip low. Also - being only 5"1. I felt that the dress was just a tad too short. I prefer dresses that hit my knee and not ones that are several inches above it. If you're very skinny and small chested and are looking for a short dress, then this is the one for you. For all you hour-glass figured women who like to keep their legs covered, look elsewhere."

"I love this dress. I am so happy to finally find a dress that fits and flatters so nicely. Everything about this dress is beautiful and it fits very very true to size. I really dont know what everyone who is saying it runs small is talking about. Everything at Anthropologie seems to be sized the way things used to be sized; many stores cater to larger people by sizing things far too generously. I am just so happy to finally find a store where I can buy something beautiful that will actually fit my small frame and not have to shop juniors clothing to find something that actually fits"

"After gazing at this dress for weeks online, I finally did try it on in the store and was not disappointed. I'm a size 2 at 5'4", 127 lbs. and it fit perfectly. Although I expected the material to be more silky, I really loved the thicker material it was made out of. The color is gorgeous and with a great pair of shoes and some accessories, it's very unique and perfect for an upcoming semi-formal event of mine this winter."

"I really, really wanted to love this dress. This was my immediate pick for my company's upcoming holiday party. The color is beautiful and the rosettes are so pretty. However, when I tried it on, I couldn't help but be disappointed. The material of the dress is on the cheap side, and not silk like I thought it would be. It's also very thin, and shows off every imperfection on my body. I had to size up to a 6 (I'm normally a 4) and even that fit a bit snug.
Maybe if it goes on sale before my holiday party, I'll reconsider, but at full price, it's just not worth it. There are other pretty and more flattering dresses out there!"

"This dress is really beautiful. The color is a rich purple and the material is perfect for the fall. This would be great for parties or work.
BUT I usually wear a size 6. There was only a size 4 and 10 left, so based on other reviews I tried on the 10. It fit well in my hips but was really loose in the arm hole areas and the neckline was a little low.
After examining it at the store, I realized I could easily alter the upper half to make it fit my shape. I cut the dress where the "Rosettes-and-Ruffles" met the material on the top of the shoulders, put it on, and pinned it overlapping the excess fabric that was causing too much room in the arm holes. Then, I simply sewed a few stitches in by hand to reconnect the material.
So, if you love this dress but it just doesn't fit you right, consider alteration."

"I ordered this dress to see how it looked on one of my bridesmaids as a potential bridesmaid's dress. When it came in, it looked even more beautiful than one the website. I was worried it wasn't formal enough but as others have said, the material is very chic and the whole thing is elegant and perfect for a wedding. HOWEVER. We ordered the 14 for her, and it fit ME perfectly -- a size 8/10. There is no way in heck that she could wear this dress, and she normally wears a size 14. It definitely runs at least two sizes too small. This is very disappointing considering the fact that Anthropologie only goes up to size 14. I certainly wish they ran more true to size with this dress. If they had, they would have sold three of them to me. I know the $500 or so they aren't getting from us isn't a big deal to this huge business in the whole scheme of things, but for us it was incredibly disappointing.
It's a gorgeous dress, but ORDER TWO SIZES UP!"

"This dress is in a beautiful color and the detailing is very nice. The fabric wasn't as dressy as I had hoped, but with accessories it can look more formal.
It's perfect for a wedding or holiday party. I am 5'4" with an hourglass figure and weigh 150 lbs. The size 8 fit everywhere except for the bust. The size 10 was perfect. I can wear a regular bra with this, which is a plus."

"I recently bought this dress for my upcoming engagement party. I'm 5'8, broad shouldered, and busty. The pros: the color is truly gorgeous; the rosettes on top are a beautiful silk; the tie around the waist hits just right. Cons: It was too short on me to look like a substantial dress; my usual size 8 was too tight in the back, but fit in the front; the material of the dress body was not as luxe as I had imagined and it and it has these big seems running down that make it look too casual; I can see this wrinkling very easily. Still, the color is so beautiful that I might try a 10 on for size and see if the fit is better."

"I have been in love with this dress since seeing it online several weeks ago and tried it on in the store today. I was so hoping to wear it to a wedding rehearsal this winter. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations.
The fit was true to size; the color was beautiful; the quality was fine. However, the overall look was somewhat dull. Also, the neckline fell at an awkward spot on my chest; not really low-cut or high-necked. I am 5'3, 120 lbs, size 2, but with a 32E bust - that may have had something to do with it! It just did not seem worth the (rather low) price tag to me.
If you are looking for a dress that will earn a compliment at first glance but not on a closer inspection, then this is the dress for you."
