Talent and Imagination in a One Little Jacket!

PostedMarch 21, 2010
Pros: color mix, no wrinkles, sweet little details, polka dots
Cons: no pockets, hook and eye closures
"I'm an average size FOUR in Jackets. Occasionally I need a SIX to accomodate a slightly larger rib cage. The ribbon at the waist looked like it may pose a problem. So I ordered both a FOUR and a SIX.
SIZE: I'm 5'6", 125 lbs, 34C, with narrow shoulders. I honestly could not tell the difference between the sizes. I laid them on top of each other. They are exactly the same.
FIT: Both Jackets fit me like a SIX. Loose everywhere. My guess is the Jacket labeled size FOUR is actually a SIX. A FOUR would have been nicely fitted, if not tight in the rib cage. I was hoping for the taylored fit the FOUR would have offered. I don't need the extra space for the very thin Bright Side Blouse underneath.
OTHER DETAILS: Cutest little ribbon bow. B&W Cotton Polka Dot Lining. What no pockets? No, not those awful hook and eye closures.
Note: When I removed the Jacket labeled size FOUR from the packaging I noticed a strong dust smell. So that Jacket is back in the mail. The Jacket labeled SIX had same odor, but not as strong.
THE OUTFIT: I gravitate to Anthro items that appeal and are different from what already hangs in my closet. This Jacket qualifies. As does the OUTFIT. Who would bring Pink, Orange, Black, Moss Green, and a hint of Pale Yellow together? And combine a mix of styles so exceptionally well.
Anthropologie! Thank You for Sharing Your Talented Imagination."

"I tried this on in the store because the color and pattern combination was unique, but was quickly disappointed. The tapering of the top portion was not figure flattering at all. I felt like I was swimming in this jacket and yet I could not raise my arms without the rest of the jacket bunching up under my bust line. This jacket was surely unique."

Not a great fit

PostedFebruary 27, 2010
"I didn't like how the black band puckered when I moved or sat. I am a 32D and I felt like the top part was too big while the clasps around my waist felt tight--I couldn't have gone to a smaller size. If you're very big-busted and have a very small rib cage, this is the jacket for you. It's adorable. Wish it would have worked!"

"I tried this jacket on in-store on two separate occasions. I thought it was cute on, but put it back the first time because something wasn't quite right. I tried it on the second time because after putting it back the first time, I just couldn't get it out of my mind, actually mentally pairing it with different pieces already in my closet. Unfortunately, something still wasn't quite right the second time, and the second jacket actually didn't fit as will as the first one, despite the fact that both jackets were the same size (one size larger than my usual).
I think the problem I have with the jacket is the short sleeves. To me, there is something inherently "old lady" about a jacket with short sleeves. Actually, it reminded me of something I'd see Rose wearing in an episode of the Golden Girls. Great for Rose, not for me. I left this jacket in the store and won't be going back to try it on a third time."

Tight Sleeves

PostedFebruary 20, 2010
Cons: sleeves too tight
"Cute jacket! I love that the jacket is light on top and dark on the bottom with pattern. The bottom flares out a little bit but not enough to make you look heavy. My only complaint is the sleeves are too tight. After reading several reviews about the size, I decided to order a size up. I'm so glad that I did!!! Otherwise, I would not have been able to place my arms in the sleeves!!!!!"

Beautiful... for a mannequin

PostedFebruary 17, 2010
Pros: lovely to look at
Cons: allows for no movement while wearing
"This jacket is adorable and seemed a must-have for my wardrobe. Having read other reviews, I ordered 2 sizes up from my usual. It fit perfectly -- if I didn't have to move. I couldn't raise or move my arms with this jacket on. And for $128 I should be able to move comfortably. Seems as though it was designed for a dress-maker's mannequin rather than a living being. Perhaps the pattern was not accurately gradiated as the sizes moved up. Whatever the design flaw, it's sadly being returned."

Nice to have but not an essential piece

PostedFebruary 4, 2010
"Unlike other reviewers, I felt this ran TTS. I have a 34B bust with a 26 inch waist and bought a size 4 which was slightly loose from the bust to the waist.
The black band around the waist is made of lightweight cotton which is fine for the band, but they used the same material for the bow which because of its lightweight, made the bow floppy and creased and I felt brought down the quality of the jacket. Overall, it is a striking piece which you can't wear too often, because people will remember it! I'm a bit iffy about the fasteners down the jacket also, as they look like they won't stay fastened but I haven't worn it out yet, so I'm not sure. Also the back with the black and white print just below the bow tends to pouf out, I'm not sure why.
I think it will go beautifully paired with a salmon coloured tank or blouse as worn by the model. Avoid pairing it with black or pink as that will be too predictable or matchy-matchy.
This jacket is a nice add on to your wardrobe if you like colourful, stand out pieces, but if you are building a basic wardrobe, then I'll say pass."

beautiful but limited

PostedJanuary 29, 2010
Pros: beautiful construction
Cons: not versatile enough
"I ordered this beautiful jacket and was very happy with the design and fit. Several reviewers noted the form fitting bodice and I would agree but it was true to size for me. I ended up returning the product only because I found the colors a bit limiting for my wardrobe. I looked and looked for black t-shirts to wear under just could never find the right thing. I do highly recommend this jacket to others; just didn't have the versatility for me."

Cute but tight fit

PostedJanuary 22, 2010
Pros: design colors style
Cons: runs small
"When I first saw this jacket I HAD to have it. I tried it on in my normal size of 8, but it was WAY too tight everywhere. I tried a size 10, but being a perfect fit in the chest with no room to spare I was worried that once I put something under it, it would be too tight so I didn't get it. I saw it a second time and tried on the 10 again and wore a camisole under it, and it fit perfectly so I bought it. If I wanted to wear something a little heavier under, it would not fit. I suggest going up a size in this jacket and still it may not fit right. So be prepared for a disappointment and possible return. But if you're lucky and it fits - score! It's so cute!!"

Beautiful but not for busty

PostedJanuary 19, 2010
Pros: nice fabric, versatile, nice cut
Cons: tight for large chested
"I so wish this worked for me. It's not bad, but a bit tight and thinking of returning. I have broad shoulders in combination with a big bust....so I have the opposite problem from other reviewers....too tight in the bust. If I size up, it's too large in the waist area...my never ending problem. I ordered a size 12, which is my normal Anthro size. I wear 36-38 C size, so if you are like me you may want to consider sizing up. ALthough I think the 14 is sold out :( Besides my odd body shape, I love this piece, the fabric is very nice and I love the pattern. I think this top will work for most people."

Very cute jacket

PostedJanuary 15, 2010
"I love this jacket. The colors are wonderful and I feel the fit was okay. The waist is a tad small, but def works and I don't think I'll need to size up. I usually wear a 4 in tops and the 4 in this jacket was great. Any larger and I think the bust would be too large."

Gorgeous but not well fitted

PostedJanuary 11, 2010
Pros: design, fabric, unique
Cons: fit
"I tried this on in store in a size 2 (34B/C, normally a size 4) and everything fit perfectly EXCEPT the sleeves! I was so surprised after reading reviews that stated the waist was tight to find out that it's not only the waist but also the shoulder area. I couldn't lift my arms even close to above my head. The two fit perfectly everywhere else but I NEVER buy things that constrain my arms. Has anyone else had this problem with the jacket?
Will wait for sale.

Jacket

PostedJanuary 7, 2010
Pros: adorable. great fabric. nicely made.
Cons: runs small.
"I tried this on in my local Anthro today and had to put it on hold since I'm on the fence. I'm usually a 10 which was way too small. The 12 fit, but was snug. I'm busty and the cut was flattering and I know it would look cute with a LB skirt or black jeans. Just didn't work with the faded BF jeans I'm wearing today."

I want it, but..

PostedJanuary 7, 2010
Pros: sweet detailing and fit
Cons: ...except on the wasit. tight!
"Darn! I want this little jacket. The style, design, colors...especially the little bow in the back...it is perfect! I tried my true size 4 (5'8, 34C, 26 inch waist). It fit perfectly everywhere except the waist, which was tight...and that is my smallest measurement! I was so disappointed, the gapping was just too much to hide, so I had to pass. If it works for you, I suggest purchasing because it is such a sweet jacket that could really 'make' a lot of simple outfits spectacular."

Perfect, classic, feminine style

PostedJanuary 7, 2010
Pros: wonderful styling, flattering fit for curvy gals, adorable cotton candy pink
Cons: runs small
"Love this jacket! The material is gorgeous and the color is perfect. The day I tried it on I got a ton of compliments. The style is perfect. It is quite classic and very flattering. Like the way clothing used to be when it was flattering for us curvy women. My only problem is that I felt like it ran pretty SMALL. I am usually a medium or 8-10. I had to get a 12! I am finding that elevenses brand does run small. I did not have a problem with the bust being too large, I am on the bustier side though."

cute but not thrilled with fit

PostedJanuary 4, 2010
"This is an adorable little jacket. Love the color combination and dots, and the retro vibe. However, the fit was not the best on me. It was snug in the waist and loose and gaping above the waist in the lower bust area. Apparently this is the case for other reviewers also, not just me with my very small bust! A slightly different cut of this jacket would have made it a must-have for me, but it just wasn't flattering. As for sizing, I am a 2 or 4 and the 4 would have been the best fit for me; so I think it runs pretty true to size, but keep in mind the waist is very fitted."

CUTE!

PostedDecember 30, 2009
"I am a size zero and short, and often find size 0 clothing to be a bit big. This piece fit well except for the fact that it was big in the bust (I'm a 32A). The back is adorable with a tiny bow, and it would look great with dress jeans and some heels. If it fits properly, it's darling."

Coco Chanel and Jackie O had a fashion baby!

PostedDecember 30, 2009
Pros: beautifully feminine, a classic piece, versatile
Cons: a little loose in the bust
"I tried this jacket on in the store and immediately had to have it. I'll wear it with a long sleeved black or cream tee in the cooler months and with the Estelle tank in warmer weather.
It does fit a little loose in the lower breast portion and may not work for smaller busted gals.
