Pros: extremely flattering
Cons: material snags easily, buttons come off easily, pockets are low and shallow
"Being my dream coat, and considering my obsession with Tracy Reese, I am willing to overlook the glaring flaws with this coat.
First off, the pros. It's absolutely gorgeous and so flattering (I am pear-shaped). When worn over a dress and tights, it looks like a dress itself.
Cons: I've already had to re-sew 2 buttons. This coat snags *very* easily, especially if you wear rings or bracelets. Also, the pockets are quite low (at first I didn't realize it had pockets), especially for the short-armed like myself.
But as I said, because I am so in love with it, I am willing to overlook these flaws. I just think it could have been made better for this price."

Pros: it's perfect on my body type (pear shape)
"This coat is beautiful! It is heavy and warm for upstate NY (in the Catskills). I'll be wearing it a lot this December and through February as the color and print scream winter! It is a very special, feminine coat with the ruffles down the front and tapered waist which ends in a skirt- like effect. I have large hips but it does not emphasize, it more just hangs nicely and camouflages them. I am 5'7",150 lbs and the medium fits perfectly, even the sleeves are long enough for my lengthy arms. I cannot fit a bulky sweater under it but a blouse and med/light cardigan will work. It looks amazing with black skinny jeans and tall boots. The buttons are shiny which adds to the charm of the coat. I'll be getting tons of compliments tomorrow when I wear it for the first time. Everyone asks me where I get my sweaters and such, but I'm trying to keep anthropologie my secret!:)"

Pros: ultra feminine yet still holds a rugged charm., great fit for short/petite frame
Cons: pockets could be deeper, looks bit overdone/too busy with a scarf
"I first saw this coat a few months back in the catalogue, but couldn't justify the price. So very happy that I waited to purchase it on sale, definitely worth the later price. It is absolutely fantastic looking with the front ruffles, plaid, and glitzy black buttons. Looks great with tights and boots or even just jeans. I'm quite petite at 5'2, ordered the XS and it fits fabulously (I'm generally a US size 0-2). Definitely doesn't appear too long or wide around the waist, and for my size I still have plenty of room for a couple of layers underneath. The shoulders fit my frame perfectly (though I could see where others might call it snug and tight on the bust-– whereas I'm only a 32A), and the sleeves are of the correct length. The coat's perfect for a cold autumn or a relatively chilly winter day, though it does weigh a ton when picked up! Search out the pockets near the ruffles––they are sewn shut."

Pros: beautiful quality and pattern
Cons: size is off due to the cut
"The Birling Ruffle Coatis so adorable...Plaid is really in! The only problem is I have two sizes right now.I don't know which one to keep. The XS is a little tight in the shoulders but fits the body better, the small is the opposite...I don't know what to do. I'm petite with a small frame and I don't want the coat to make me look bigger in the hip area, but the sleeves on the XS are tighter and short(I'm only 5'3????) It's definitely a keeper but I disagree with another review about it not being warm enough. I was thinking of keeping the XS.I don't like being too warm and I would prob not wear anything too thick under it.If you pick it up, you can tell it will be warm because it's pretty heavy. Anyway,if you are more pear shaped or just like to layer a lot, I would recommend sizing up.Hope this helps???"

Pros: warm but not heavy, soft comfy wool, beautiful cut and color, pockets, sale price, great for pear shaped figures
Cons: the buttons may need to be reinforced, pockets are too low
"Just bought this. I'm not positive if I'll keep it (I'm waiting for another coat to come in the mail so I can compare.)
Firstly, the coat has pockets. They are lightly sewn shut. Just pop the little seams and Voila! However, on petite me the pockets are too far down for comfort.
The material is luxuriously soft, both the lining and the wool. Not at all itchy (I have sensitive skin, so this is great news!)
The coat is super warm but not as heavy as many other warm winter coats.
The color is a gorgeous deep ruby.
I'm super pear-shaped (XS shoulders to M/L hips) On me this coat is very fitted - almost like a well tailored dress. But, I think on others it would be looser around the hips and waist. Either way the cut is darling.
At the sale price, this coat is a fantastic deal."

Pros: beautifully made well-constructed heavy fabric
Cons: none i can think of
"Absolutely beautiful coat. Very substantial for a cold winter day or evening. The "skirt" and ruffle give it a dressy look, but the familiar black and red plaid pattern lends itself to casual wear as well. Dress it up or down - it'll work well in almost any situation. I'm really glad I made the investment. At the sale price it's a great value and you'll probably wear it for years."
