"Ohh my goodness I dont know where to begin, I just love, love everything about this dress, the cream color background, the different color splashed butterflies, and I even love that there are names, or some kind of wording in what appears to be french all about the dress, I also think the butterflies are the perfect size, and spaced apart perfectly, you cant help but get noticed in this enchanting piece of art, feeling as if I need to go visit Paris strolling around in this, or visiting a museum, perfect for any and all ooccasions, can be dressed up or down, and I know that several other reviewers complained about the cordinating blue sash, I simply cant see where they are going, I love it, it matches the cobalt blue butterflies beautifuly, the sash accentuates and adds a pop of color to add even more interest to the dress, I also know others are in the belief that if a dress has smocking you can or shouold size down, well I guess if you dont mind it being extra tight, dont eat, or gain even one pound, and never wash it, you will be ok, as for fit, I normaly wear a 6 in Maeve, but this dress in my opinion ran one size small, while the 6 did zip, it was tight and I felt squished, even with my 34b chest, but this is just me, I dont like super well fitted cloths, but some what semi fitted to mostly fitted, so I did size up to and 8, since I am not a strapless kind of girl I'll be wearing the optional straps, the wide tulle at the bottom of the dress, sure makes this puffy, in a girly way, I highly reccomend this dress"
"I ordered this dress on a whim when I saw it popped back into my wishlist in my size...I had all but forgotten about my interest in it since summer has ended, winter is on its way...and I won't get any use out of for 6 months anyway. But I had recently seen it featured on Glee (on Quinn, she of the ultimate Anthropologie wardrobe) and had liked the way they styled the dress with a red shrug and thought, what the heck. Let's give it a try. Unfortunately it arrived a wrinkled mess (boo Anthro....good thing I have a good iron that puts out a lot of steam!) and it took about 20 minutes of ironing before it was in any condition to try on. But it is quite fabulous on! I usually have trouble with strapless dresses, being a 32C I never seem to quite fill them out right-It was a good idea to order the 2P because the fit is impeccable and it actually fits my bust perfectly.! The length is great, the bright blue sash sets off the dress beautifully. The origami detailing on the bust is adorable and overall I think I will be keeping this dress. It's nice they have included the option of straps too, so if I am feeling a little insecure about the strapless situation, I can just add straps. If only my Around the Maypole dress had that option...*sigh*"

Pros: machine washable, everything!
"Love, love, LOVE this dress! I've been waiting months for this one to go on sale and was so excited when I saw that Anthro still had my size! So happy I snatched this up when I did. The pattern is simply wonderful and has a lovely vintage flare to it. The bright blue sash is a wonderful pop of colour. The whole thing has a nice Alice in Wonderland vibe to it. One issue some may have is the fullness of the skirt - I imagine that it may be a bit over whelming on shorter girls. I'm going to wearing this into work sans sash, with a peacock blue cardigan and burgundy tights and shoes - how's that for a butterfly? Fits TTS - pick it up if you can!"

can't wait to wear this!

Pros: 100% cotton, machine washable
"I had been eyeing this dress since I saw it online and in my local anthro store. But since it was mid-fall when I saw it, and I knew I wouldn't get much use out of it in the upcoming months (I know some reviewers said they'd wear this with boots, tights, cardigan, etc. this is a spring/summer dress to me), I didn't want to pay full price for it. So I was so excited when I found it on sale in my size this past weekend. I'm 5'1", 107 lb, 34c. I had wanted to try on both regular and petite sizes, but there were no petites, just 0s and 4s. I got the regular 4 and I think it fits me well. I'm short-waisted, so I think if I had gotten a petite, the waist of the dress would be higher and it would make me look even more short-waisted than I already am. The waistline of the regular 4 falls just slightly higher than where I wear a waistline normally giving it a slight empire-waist appearance. The hem falls to just he bottom of my knee, which is exactly where I would want it to fall. The skirt has just enough flare and swing. I think if I had gotten a petite the higher waistline and shorter skirt length would have made it look more poofy. I love the pleats at the bust and the elastic smocking on the back of the back of the torso. I know some reviewers complained about the sash, but I love it! The azure blue is the perfect pop of color. I will probably wear this in the spring/summer with a coordinating azure blue cardigan, although I agree there are so many options for coordinating colors because of all the colors in the butterfly pattern."
"This is the perfect dress! I love butterflies. It is not overly colorful and the muted shades of the butterflies make this whimsical print appropriate on an adult. It is thick, heavy weight cotton, not sheer at all. I love the layering of the fabric at the bodice. You can probably get away with ordering a size or 2 down because of the ruching in the back. This will be my go to dress next summer, I don't feel that it is a winter print. Very happy with my purchase."

"I first saw this dress in the window and fell in love with it immediately. I love the blue sash, but will be trading it in for a brown belt during winter (like many others). It fits great except the bust is a little large - that problem is easily remedied by adding the straps. I like the button on the inside of the zipper as it makes zipping so much easier. I love the vintage look this dress. The only "issue" I had with the dress is it fits a bit big and I had to go with a smaller size."

"I just think this dress looks unique and beautiful! i bought this for my girlfriend! i hope she likes it like the rest of the critics here!"
"When I first saw this dress appear online, I fell in love with it. Then, a few days later, the sash on the dress was changed and it nearly kicked this dress off of my wishlist. I had walked by it in the store several times when I finally decided to try it on, and I am so glad I did.
This dress fit beautifully, TTS. I had some trouble with the sash at first trying to tie a bow, but ended up tieing it around myself twice and in a small knot in the back. The blue is a lovely color, but I will absolutely be changing it out for a brown belt often. It is a perfect year-round dress.
If you have a larger bust, you may want to size up. I'm a B and though I did not feel squeezed, I felt secure in it. The smocking in the back gives just the right amount of strech and I love the details on the neckline. I am considering shortening the dress slightly and using the extra fabric to make a belt similar to the one in the first pictures, but we'll see.
Overall, I love it. Buy this dress, you won't regret it."

A gorgeous dress, but might need some changes
,

"First off, let me say that I really like this dress. I knew as soon as I saw the print that I would have to buy it, and I'm glad I did. That said, I have made a few changes. I removed the tulle layer underneath because it was making the dress a little too formal/making my hips look big. The dress has the absolute perfect amount of fluff with just the pleating- you might find that the tulle is just too much. Also, I'm not crazy about the turquoise sash, I think the dress looks even better with a brown or green waist-belt. The top is gorgeous and I got tons of compliments!"

Stunning strapless dress
,
PostedNovember 6, 2011
Pros: well constructed, amazing print, comes with attachable straps, the sash is beautiful, pockets!
Cons: a little long in length
"I wasn't 100% sold on this dress (especially as it's a strapless) but a friend convinced me it would look amazing so I bought it and crossed my fingers. As I'm still figuring out American dress sizes (and after reading comments) I thought I would wing it and get a 4 and I'm glad I did! A 6 would have definitely swamped me. The 4 fits almost perfectly and it even comes with straps you can add (although I have not tried wearing it this way yet!). The dress is well constructed with a cute in-built petticoat. The print is just so unbelievably beautiful and the blue sash is just the pop of colour that the dress needs. The overall feel is feminine without being little girly. The dress sits on/just past my knees, which is a little too long but something I'm happy to live with since it's such a cute dress!"

Pros: material, versatility, comfort
Cons: none
"I had been stalking this dress for awhile and couldn't resist purchasing it! I love the pattern...very unique. I wore it to a wedding rehearsal/rehearsal dinner and got so many compliments! I took off the blue sash and subsitutued it for a brown belt and green cardigan since it was fall, but in the spring, the blue sash will make a reappearance! This dress is so comfortable. I felt like twirling all night! I'm busty and short, but the 8P worked fine for me...a perfect length!"

Pros: colors, design
"I truly loved this dress, but it did not work for me due to several design features. The dress ran short on me. I am 5'1", but I wear a 32" inseam. This hit right above the knees which caused it to feel a little like a little girl's dress. This was further enhanced by the fact that my long torso caused the waist to land right around my ribcage. I am usually a 0, and I tried the 2 just to see if the added size would extend the length. It helped a little, but caused the top to be loose enough that I was worried about losing it! I love the design here - the little built in petticoat with the lace around the edge is to die for. Highly recommended, just try it on first!"
"The detailing, diagonal tucks on the top, give this dress a little something extra. The fabric is a heavier weight cotton with a little petticoat underneath which makes it feel more substantial. This looks way cute with the Kimmel sweater in the green or purple color. I think with a cardi this could easily be worn year round. Fit is true to size. It has the little square of elastic smocking on the back that helps for a more secure (and forgiving) fit. The butterfly print is also very pretty. Nice date night dress."

"First review ever but wanted to share how beautiful this is. I love the full skirt and the blue sash- I am double wrapping it and adding a brooch to eliminate the bow. The tulle underneath with the blue trim is adorable! The petite is a much better length for me but the OP sold out after I ordered it. Order a size down if you can."

Love this dress!
,
PostedOctober 6, 2011
Pros: long
"Being 5'11" it seems more and more impossible to find a dress long enough to wear out and not feel scandalous, and this was perfect! Also, I'm a few sizes smaller on the top, so it's tough to find a dress that fits on the top and can get over my hips, so I love the A-line! The detail on the top is beautiful and well done, and the sash adds a great pop of color. I get tons of compliments on it, and or someone who usually hates wearing strapless dresses, I love it! I even wore it for my wedding save the date photos!"

Pros: can be dressed up or dressed down
"i fell in love with this beautiful "butterfly" dress the minute i saw it in the store. i thought every single detail down to the blue stitching on the lining was amazing. It was fun, classic and romantic all at the same time and you just don't see clothes made like this anymore. The layer of tulle was the icing on the cake! I am quite petite - 5 2", 109 lbs and a 32A, so i always assume that most clothes aren't going to fit well, but this dress was perfect apart from the fact that i had it shortened by about 2 inches as a personal preference. I made sure that the tailor hemmed the blue stitching back onto the lining because, although it cannot be seem, it was far too pretty to just throw away. He hesitated at first and then completely agreed that it was part of the "fun" of the dress. I think the blue sash completes the dress and tied the bow at the front and to the side, but also thought it was lovely tied at the back. I didn't buy the dress immediately but when my husband saw it in anthropologie about a week later, he insisted on buying it because he said it was so me and i had to have it. I LOVE this dress!"

Delightful Dress
,
PostedOctober 2, 2011
"I bought this dress mainly because of the name, which is the title of one of my favorite songs, and sparked a facination with moths within me. I half expected to send it back for being too "girly" so I was surprised to find that this dress makes me absolutely giddy. While being unabashedly feminine, this dress is too elegantly tailored to be silly. The detailing is exquisite, the colors are brilliantly mixed, making this a three season frock. I will be wearing this dress with thick tights and boots as well as a sun hat and sandals for years. I am 5'2 and 110-115 lbs usually wear a 0p or 2p at Anthro, but I took a chance and ordered up to a 4p since this is cotton and machine washable and I wanted to allow for shrinkage. I feel that ordering up was unnecessary-I didn't realize the back was smocked, and I will surely have it taken in, but fortunately with the straps, sash or belt it won't be a problem until then."
Pros: beautiful, lots of colours, machine washable, great for boyish figures
Cons: does wrinkle relatively easily
"I think this dress is pretty much perfect aside from the fact that it does get wrinkled. That is really the only minor problem I have with it though. It's truly my favourite dress ever. Too bad here in Canada it is getting a bit on the cold side to wear it now so I only had the chance to wear it once so far.
It hits just slightly above the knee on my 5'8" frame. It is poofy, but I like dresses like this due to my very straight rather boyish figure. My hips are about 31"-32" so other shapes of dresses don't tend to look so good on me most of the time in my opinion(I like something that appears to give me a bit more curve than what I have). I liked the Butterfly Net dress that came out earlier this year but it just did not work on my body so I was so happy when Anthro came out with another butterfly dress that worked so well for me! When my mother saw me wear this dress she said that it's stunning and the perfect dress for me. She liked it better on me than any other dress I have. My mom is very picky so this is saying something. I also got many compliments from other people when I wore it.
I'm not sure if all of these dresses are sized properly since when I tried this dress on I took both a 2 and a 0 into the fitting room and the 0 was the perfect fit and the 2 felt like it was definitely more than one size up from the 0 since it wouldn't stay up on my body for even a second and it did look quite bigger than the 0....so I have a feeling that one of them was probably sized wrong. I recommend bringing in more than one of the same size into the fitting room if you have that option.
I love the optional straps that come with the dress and that they are made from the same material as the dress(and the material of the dress feels like substantial cotton). The blue sash is okay but looks best worn in the back in my opinion and the dress still looks fine without it also.
Like others have also mentioned, the bodice is very well constructed and beautiful.
There are also so many colours in this dress that it can be paired with many different colours of shoes, bags, and cardigans.
I'm not sure how it washes up since I have not washed it yet due to only wearing it once so far.
Anyway, for reference I'm 5'8", 31" bust(with bra on), 24" waist, 31"-32" hips, about 100 pounds and the 0 I got fit well. I was originally afraid of getting sized out of this when I read that the dress ran a size big but I'm glad it wasn't the case for me when I tried it on."

"This is a beautiful dress! Though it would be casual/summer wedding appropriate, I won't be wearing it to wedding I'm going to in November. However, I will definitely bring it for the trip! The colors are a little more vibrant in person. There is a slip underneath the skirt with tulle sewn in for a little flare. The length is nice, about mid-knee for me, which I find more comfortable (I don't have to wear tights if I don't want to!). I also like the optional (included) straps- I don't want to think about what I'm wearing, I just want to wear it."
