"I'm a 32D and this shirt was flattering on me in both the size 2 and 0 (bought green in 2 and yellow in 0). It's fitted at the bottom to balance the looser top but the top doesn't make me look bigger. I'm surprised it has such low reviews so I'm really glad I still tried it on."

"I love this top! It's a gorgeous golden yellow color perfect for fall. You definitely need to size up if you have hips. The bottom is pretty unforgiving. I normally wear a 2,4 at Anthro and the size 6 fit me fine. A little looser on the top but the hip was perfect."

"I was pretty excited when I ordered this top online. I thought it would be a great layering piece. I was sadly disappointed. The bust area is huge and I'm a 36 DD. The arm holes hang low and I look like my bust is even larger than it is. In short, the fit is really weird. Will have to modify the sleeves to make this work at all. The silk is nice though and the color is striking. Make sure you try it on before buying."

"I was looking for a fun shirt to go under a cropped shirt, and this fit the bill exactly. The reviews helped me in determining my size - I'm 5'4' and a bit busty, but I'm glad I went with the small......the zipper does make it gather and hug a bit which was mentioned in another review, but it's minor and doesn't take away from the look and feel of the shirt. I like the construction and material - I would recommend this to anyone."

"I bought this in the gold color, and the design is beautiful. It fits with extra room up top. I'm top heavy, and I can see how many body types would not work with this top, but if you're bigger up top, it is a beautiful and well made blouse. It also made my waist look smaller, which I love."

"I'm glad I was able to try this on. I liked the green but found the yellow in my Anthro store, so I tried it on for size. I'm glad I had a chance to do that. It is cut very small through the bottom and considerably larger in the top. I need more room in the bust, usually take a 12 or a 14. The 12 seemed ok in the top, but I'm not sure as the hip was so small that I could not pull it down to the right place. I just gave up even trying to see if I could get a fit. I think this is designed for a top heavy girl with no hips or rear."

"I was leery about this top based on the reviews. I ended up buying it on sale, but this will definitely not work on all body types. I am pretty straight and not very curvy or busty, wear a 4 pant and a 4 or 6 top and am a 34B. I bought the size 2. I probably could have worn the 4, but there was a little less fabric in the chest on the 2. The issue with this top is that that the bottom is fairly clingy to the hip area an cannot be adjusted. This is ok if you have pretty straight hips, but if you are an hourglass shape you might have a problem. The fit looks less fitted on the manequin but in real life its a little clingy/fitted in the stomach/hip area.
That aside, the silk is very soft and both colors are beautiful. I suspect this one may get a 2nd cut. Bottom line- worth a try-on"

"I liked the idea of the hip-level detail. The material is really nice and I like the yellow color. However, the cut and fit are all wrong. The neck and arm holes are so drapey that you could see my bra from all angles. There was no fixing it with a cami, as that just looked strange.... Too bad."

"I tried this on in the eye popping emerald color and fell in love with it. Unfortunately they didn't have a size 6, and the 4 was a bit tight in the tummy area. I tried on the yellow in 6 just to try it, and I'm SO thrilled that I did. I have olive skin and the yellow just made me shine beautifully. The green color was nice too, but it didn't do much for my skin tone as did the yellow. The fit is beautiful. I wear 36DD bra and it draped very nicely. I might get the green too, come to think of it...... Hooked on Anthro :/..."

"Great concept; poor execution. I honestly don't know how best to critique this top, because I couldn't really figure out what was wrong with it. It seemed completely over-sized on top compared to the bottom and could not be rectified through any amount of fiddling with the ruching. It looked like it added about 20 lbs to the top half of my body."

"First off, this top, for the right body shape, is extremely adorable. The colors are beautiful, and the fabric is high quality silk. However, although the top looks like it would be very flattering, hippy girls beware. While my build is pretty average, I do have SLIGHTLY larger hips. I could not get this top over my hips! I noticed another user had the same issue. I really think that this top would be better suited for someone that has a straighter body, as I could definitely see the cinching being more flattering for a frame like that. Also, while I love the basic design and fabric, the cinching appears to be just placed oddly, and the top is VERY voluminous. Almost silly feeling...like you have a large drape over your neck. Not a huge fan of the style, or fit, but definitely a cute top for another body type."

"Definitely size down, and be prepared to wear a camisole or tank or under this depending on how you're built.
The green is just gorgeous, and easily stands alone or serves as the perfect piece under a cardigan, jacket or sweater. Evening out, work, running errands? This shirt has you covered.
The neckline could be a problem depending on your build or if you don't size down, but it didn't bother me. I did, however, find the cinched waist fabric 'ties' much longer in person than on the model."

Great blouse, once you size down

"I read the reviews before I tried on this top at my local store, so I knew to size down. But even if I had not checked the reviews, I could tell just by looking at the top on the hanger that it ran very large. I normally take size 4 or 6 in non-stretchy blouses and dresses to accommodate my 34DD bust, but in this case, I sized down to 2, and found the fit to be spot on. So, once you find your right size, this top is actually quite flattering. The front drapes over chest in a nice way (not too low) and the bottom fits snugly but not uncomfortable over hips (for reference, my hips are 37"). I loved the mustard-yellow silky fabric and think it's perfect for fall. It's a tiny bit transparent, but if you wear a nude bra, you should be fine. Now that it's on sale, it's definitely worth a try."

"I decided to try this top in spite of the mixed reviews. I'm larger on top than on the bottom (size 4-6 blouse, size 2 pants) and often have problems with fit in the bust and sleeves, so I figured it was worth a try. Based on the reviews I tried a size 2, and it actually fit quite well. It was bigger on top, but not overly so. The bottom was close-fitting, but not too tight. I can see why this top would be a poor fit on someone with larger hips and a slim upper body, but if you have a straight or top-heavy figure, this may work well for you. The drawstring adjusts the length, so it can work for both tall and petite women. The fabric is very nice, and the green is a lovely color, but I didn't love it enough to pay full price for it. If it goes on sale, I may get one, and I'm considering going down another size to get a closer fit on top. I would definitely recommend sizing down."

"From reading the majority of these reviews, they would be enough to put you totally off purchasing this top! I however bought this at the weekend in store, and have only read the reviews just now when posting my own review. I think this top is perfect for gals with hourglass figures with a bit of a tum, its also flattering up top as it minimises the booby effect, and is great for the tum and hip area as you can cinch it in. I love these Maeve tops - godd quality at a reasonable price point."

"I tried on the green with the Peppering Skirt in the store. Tried sz 4, did not have a 6. The combination was very nice. The drawback on the top: one side has a side zip. I did not have to unzip to get the top over my head. The zipper affects the drape of the material on the one side. From .com ordered the Peppering Skirt and size 6 top in green. Will take the top to a tailor, if the taylor cannot place the zipper where it does not affect the drape, will probably return to store.

"I agree with what everyone says about the top part of this blouse, the cowl neck is very large and is difficult to place in a flattering manner, the rest of the blouse however was quite nice, better on than I expected considering all the reviews. I think this would look really cute with something layered over the top similar to one of the on line pictures, although for almost $100, people may find that a waste! I would definatly consider getting it for this reason if it went on sale however (and I have a strong feeling that it will!)"

"I really wanted to like this top but it was just way too big. I'm relatively tall & slender with a 36C bust - normally a 2 or a 4 - but even a 0 in this top was absurdly large everywhere. On the plus side, if the fit works for you, the gold color is really beautiful in person and worked with my fair complexion when most yellows look like garbage on me."
