Love these!

PostedOctober 18, 2011
Pros: adorable, unique, very heavy
"I love anything "poodle," so when I saw these, I had to have them. They feel very substantial and appear to be well made (though they are made in China). I was worried about the reviewer who suggested the poodles' rear ends look like baboons, and while I see how she could think that, I don't find it to be the case, and it is not something I think most people would fixate on. (You wouldn't really see the butts, anyway, if you put it on a bookshelf with closed ends.) Overall, I think they're fantastic and a really unique addition to a bookshelf. Before I received them, I was a little worried that they would not be worth the price tag, but seeing how heavy and well crafted they are allayed my concerns. For what it's worth, I think the dimensions in the description are off - the bookend is 6" tall (from the bottom to the top of the poodle's head), not 5" tall, like the description says. It is 5" wide (from the end by the tail to the front where the paw is, not 6". It is 3" deep."

turn the poodles around

PostedMay 16, 2011
Pros: cute idea
Cons: dog positioning
"These bookends in theory are very cute. Very heavy and a unique addition to a bookshelf. However, the dogs are set so that their derrieres are facing out. For some reason when I walk by them I just think of baboons...if you know what I mean. The face of the poodles is quirky cute and the way they have one paw lifted is also cute. But the butts facing out compel me to return these."
